The amount of your assistance payment can be calculated by adding up your needs, and then deducting your financial resources. This amount will depend on your family size, your needs and your income. You generally will work with an income assistance worker at the Social Services Office on your application and what pertains to your specific case.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Types of financial assistance that may be available if you are eligible include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Adult Allowance<\/b> \u2014 food, personal, travel, household and clothing needs;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Board and Room Allowance<\/b> \u2014 includes clothing and personal needs;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Shelter Allowance<\/b> \u2014 rent\/ mortgage (maximum limits are set);<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Utility Allowance<\/b> \u2014 power, gas, fuel oil, water, sewer and basic telephone; <\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Northern Food Supplement<\/b> \u2014 additional $50 per person per month is provided;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Advances<\/b> \u2014 those that receive the adult allowance can request an advance for clothing and household needs. The advance is recovered from future payments;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li5\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Special Needs<\/b> \u2014 extra money may be available in some situations.
